If you’re looking to replace your current air conditioning system with a new one, there are several things to keep in mind before pulling the trigger. The main thing to consider is that you select an AC contractor that knows what they’re doing and won’t sell you something you don’t need. Every set up has a unique demand and there are different solutions for different homes. Everything we do is completely customized in order to ensure optimal performance and cool air delivery to your home!
Don’t Buy an Oversized AC System
Many people think “bigger is better” as this is how we were trained when growing up, or they’ve read about funny rules of thumb that unqualified contractors have come up with like the myth that we should have “400 square foot per ton” of air conditioning. The reality is, this doesn’t apply to AC equipment and bigger is actually a lot worse. What happens is what we call “short-cycling”. The system will turn off, and on, and off, and on with very little time in between the on-off cycles. Short cycling an air conditioner will actually decrease the lifespan of your equipment because there’s much more wear and tear on the compressor with this type of operation. In addition, a bigger compressor uses more energy and also costs more upfront. All of this combined will actually increase the likelihood of uncomfortable rooms in your home and inadquate airflow.
Measure and Calculate
The only way to truly know the correct size system for your home is to complete a full load calculation. We use Manjual J, which is an ACCA approved software. But the calculation is only as good as the user, as you can substantially change the output by tinkering with the inputs in the software. That’s why it’s important that you trust your energy efficiency and comfort adviser’s abilities to provide you with the best soluation possible for your home. If a slick salesman doesn’t know how to size equipement, how can you trust them? We certainly wouldn’t!
Trusted Brand
We’re not specifically biased against any brand as we truly believe that the quality of the installation plays the biggest role in success when it comes to AC equipment replacement, but we have had great success with Trane equipment. The main reason being that the equipment from our experience has less failures than other brands, which gives you peace of mind (and us)! In the unlikely event a system we install does have an issue, Trane’s support and response times for their Trane Comfort Specialist dealers (which we are) is phenomenal. Which is what you want – you want a brand and a contractor that will stand behind their work and product, and that is what you get with Trane. In addition, Trane equipment is made right here in the United States so you know you’re doing your part to support our local economy the best you can!
100% Satisfaction Guarantee!
We’re proud to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all our new home performance retrofits that include a heating or cooling install. We guarantee satisfaction by addressing duct leakage, over-sizing issues (which most contractors don’t address), correct refrigerant charge, proper airflow throughout the home, and more. Our customers enjoy being in the top 10% of quality installs, since studies have shown that 90% of units tested exhibit some sort of energy-wasting, comfort-robbing problem.
Rebates and Financing Promotions
We are happy to offer 0% financing for 48 months on high efficiency equipment and other financing options for lower efficiency equipment. This financing is through Wells Fargo and you can get pre-approved by clicking here.
